Sochi (RWH) Skeleton racer Alexander Tretyakov of Russia is on track for gold on his home track. The World Champion is in the lead after two of the four runs in Sochi, 0.56 seconds ahead of Latvia’s Martins Dukurs, who came second at the Vancouver Olympics and has already won the overall World Cup five times.
John Daly of the USA goes into the two final heats in third, 1.59 seconds back. Also in the running for the medals are Matt Antoine (USA), Russia’s Sergei Chudinov and Tomass Dukurs from Latvia who are ranked fourth to sixth and are all within half a second behind the current bronze hopeful.
