(ATR) The Prime Minister of Russia says Sochi is ready for the Olympics.

Dmitry Medvedev visited Sochi on Monday. He was joined by deputy prime minister Dmitry Kozak and Sochi 2014 CEO and President Dmitry Chernyshenko.

The trio visited a number of Olympic sites including the Olympic Village and the main Sochi train station.

Medvedev’s official website posted a translation of the conversation he had with Chernyshenko. In it, the PM said, "The bulk of facilities in the mountain and coastal clusters are ready for the Games, as they should be by this time."

He added, "Many have been tested by hosting national and international competitions. We should conduct another four final events by the end of December. I’m confident they will be held at the proper level."

The Olympic Village particularly impressed Medvedev. He said after touring the Village, "The conditions there are so good that the organizers of the next Olympics will have difficulties to repeat them."

While in Sochi, Medvedev signed a "transfer" of 86 plots of federal land to the city of Sochi so that, post-Olympics, the city can become "comfortable and modern."

Chernyshenko said that the organizing committee is in the process of finishing work on temporary structures for the Games, and that timing and judging apparatuses are ready. He also said organizers conducted a "comprehensive test" of all equipment that will be used during the Games, using 600 different scenarios. He claimed the test was an Olympic first.

When asked by Medvedev about the weak mobile phone signal in Sochi, Chernyshenko said Megaphon, the mobile network sponsor for the Games, has guaranteed strong mobile connections for the Games.

Chernyshenko also said everyone will be able to ride the trains in Sochi for free during the Olympics.

Another Olympic first, Chernyshenko said reporters will get free tablets, replacing the "stacks of paper" handed out following competitions.
