One Month to Sochi 2014

An ABC news affiliate in Denver, Colorado discusses "the good and the bad" elements surrounding the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The Globe and Mail reports on "Olympic proportions of anger and controversy" developing in Sochi ahead of the 2014 Winter Games.

SportBusiness International covers a statement from Sochi 2014 organizing committee president Dmitry Chernyshenko: "Sochi is fully prepared to welcome the sporting world."

European Olympic Committee president Patrick Hickey expresses his confidence in Russia to deliver a "safe and secure Sochi Games."

An editorial in The Long Island Newsday says "Russia’s Olympics cannot escape politics."

The Associated Press spotlights Sochi, Brazil, Berlin, and Sarajevo in an article on "past and future world events."

A court filing released on Tuesday is reportedly the second attempt by Judge José Castro to implicate Spain’s Princess Cristina in a corruption case that "centers on her husband Iñaki Urdangarin, a former Olympic handball player."

According to The Financial Times, Urdangarin is alleged to have embezzled "millions of euros in his role as head of a not-for-profit foundation that organized conferences and provided consulting work for regional and local governments in Spain."

Bloomberg Businessweek says the only things missing from Beijing’s potential bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics "is snow."

BBC News reporter Wendy Urquhart covers a story out of Brazil where the country is preparing to host the 2016 Summer Olympics. Green catamarans called "Eco-boats" are being used as part of a "massive clear-up operation in the polluted waters of Rio de Janeiro's Guanabara Bay."
