SportAccord president, Marius L. Vizer remains unchallenged for the post in the upcoming elections. The election for the post of SportAccord President is due to take place on the 20th of April 2015 at the SportAccord General Assembly in Sochi, Russia during the SportAccord Convention - World Sport and Business Summit.
The deadline for nominations of candidates was the 21st of March 2015 and Mr. Vizer stands to be re-elected as president of SportAccord for a period of four years.
Mr. Vizer, also the president of the International Judo Federation, previously won the presidential elections during the SportAccord Convention 2013 in St. Petersburg for a two-year term.
Mr. Vizer said, "The work and the power of the international sports federations must be recognized. Being united under the umbrella of SportAccord not only protects the world of sport from monopolies, but also empowers it with the possibility to share and add value, in terms of exposure and finance, with joint cross-sport projects".
"I would like to thank the Member International Federations for their confidence and trust in me. Come the General Assembly, I am looking forward to presenting the current status of projects that have been developed in the last two years and the plan for the next period. At the same time, all Members of SportAccord can be sure that I will be dedicating time and energy to further uniting and empowering the International Federation Family as a top priority."
