Manchester United has today announced a multi-year partnership with Emtel Ltd, an innovative mobile operator and information and communication technology (ICT) company in Mauritius.

Established in 1989, Emtel was the first mobile network operator in the whole of the Southern Hemisphere, going on to set a standard in being the first company to introduce Mauritius to many of the ICT technologies which form part of our everyday life.

This tradition for innovation and ground-breaking firsts is reflected in today’s announcement, as they become Manchester United’s first partner in the region.

As the Club’s first Official Triple Play and MUTV broadcaster in the country, the new partnership will see them stream Manchester United content across TV, mobile and internet platforms in conjunction with CANAL+ and CANALSAT.

Manchester United’s Group Managing Director, Richard Arnold comments:

"We are very proud to be adding such an established and innovative company to our family of commercial sponsors. With 25 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Emtel has shown that it knows what its consumers want and is always leading the way in new advances and technologies.

"Our partnership will not only bring our fans in Mauritius new and exclusive content but it will also be delivered in unique and exciting ways."

Emtel’s CEO Shyam Roy comments:

"This is yet another great event in the 25 year innovation-rich history of Emtel, to be associated with the prestigious Manchester United Football Club. Emtel has always been close to the needs of its customers and the people of Mauritius and we are extremely proud to be able to make the dreams of thousands of Mauritius football fans come true. Emtel is ready to deliver an incredible sports experience over its quality 4G/LTE and 3G networks through smart devices and through its associated TV broadcasting operations, to fulfil the diverse lifestyles of its subscribers."
