Closer look at the Men's

Fine performances on the ITTF Pro Tour in June from Korea's Seo Hyun Deok and Lee Sang Su; similarly from Portugal's Tiago Apolonia and Marcos Freitas are rewarded.

Meanwhile, Tiago Apolonia formerly at no.46 is now at no.35, with Marcos Freitas progressing from no.58 to no.42.

In a similar vein, China's Ma Lin, the winner of the Men's Singles title at the Volkswagen China Open in Shenzhen, advances; he moves one place higher to no.3 with his colleague Wang Hao remaining at no.1 and Germany's Timo Boll at no.2.

Success in Shenzhen for Ma Lin and it is the fine performances executed by Seo Hyun Deok and Lee Sang Su in the Chinese city that causes their rise.

At the Volkswagen Open China, Seo Hyun Deok beat Singapore's Li Hu before overcoming China's Zhang Jike, the recently crowned World champion; whilst Lee Sang Su ousted Zhang Jike's colleague Xu Xin and Austria's Chen Weixing.

Winner of the Women's Singles title at the Volkswagen China Open in Shenzhen, Wen Jia is the player to make the most notable progress in the higher echelons of the Women's World Rankings.

The 22 year old who was crowned national champion in 2008, climbs from no.55 to no.30.

In so doing achieves another milestone in her career; the success in Shenzhen was her first ever ITTF Pro Tour title, the World Ranking is the highest of her career.

Required to compete in the qualification stage in Shenzhen, she negotiated the first phase of proceedings in style, before accounting for whole line of celebrated names.

She beat Singapore's Li Jiawei, Japan's Sayaka Hirano and Singapore's Sin Beibei to reach the semi-final stage, before accounting for colleague Guo Yue and a second Singaporean in the guise of Feng Tianwei to secure the top prize.
