Already a hit in schools, cinemas, online and London 2012 shops, the London 2012 Olympic mascot Wenlock and Paralympic mascot Mandeville are now set to be launched into the world of publishing by featuring in a special edition of iconic British children's comic 'The Beano' this week.
Only days after the mascot's new film launched in ODEON cinemas across the UK, a special story which follows Wenlock and Mandeville learning to swim will feature in the edition of The Beano which is released on 31st August.
Wenlock and Mandeville's adventure will feature alongside Beano regular stories including Dennis the Menace, Minnie the Minx, The Bash Street Kids and Billy Whizz in the weekly comic, which first published in 1938. Wenlock and Mandeville will feature in further issues of The Beano in the lead up to Games time where stories of the mascot's journey across the UK learning different sports in time for the Olympic and Paralympic Games will feature.
LOCOG Chair, Seb Coe said: 'This is another exciting way to bring the mascots' experiences of meeting new people and trying new sports to millions of young people across the UK. This is a creative way to engage children in the Olympic and Paralympic values.'

Since Wenlock and Mandeville's launched their new online 'make your mascot' customiser children have made over 19,000 versions of the mascots. New mascot games have been released on london2012.com/mascots during the lead up to the Games, including the recently released 'Super Trampoline' game in July. More online games are set to launch this September including a mascot music maker game featuring a mascot song.
Wenlock and Mandeville celebrated one year to go to the Games during Open Weekend at Live Sites across the UK where the public played 'Swim Wenlock Swim' and 'Dash Dodge Dive' interactive big screen games.
London 2012 has also announced the 12 student winners that will have their regionally-inspired versions of the Olympic and Paralympic mascots turned into a pin badge for sale this autumn at the London 2012 shop.
