Today, digital football media company OneFootball has announced a new digital-first, Free-to-Air (FTA) broadcasting partnership for the French Ligue 1 in Brazil.

With immediate effect and for the entirety of the 2020-21 season, OneFootball is now the exclusive Brazilian broadcasting partner of Ligue de Football Professionel (LFP) and their top-flight competition Ligue 1. The partnership will see live Ligue 1 action featuring top Brazilian players including Neymar, Marquinhos and Lucas Paqueta, streamed directly and for free to fans across the country via OneFootball.

The new partnership – a collaboration with rightsholder beIN MEDIA GROUP and facilitated by sports business agency SPORTFIVE – will see a minimum of six matches broadcast live and for free on OneFootball per matchday. Additionally, OneFootball will also make highlight clips of all matches available each matchday. The partnership officially kicks off this weekend.

With this forward-thinking approach, and OneFootball’s significant reach in the passionate football market of Brazil, this deal accelerates the further global expansion and reach of the premium Ligue 1 product. The new agreement extends OneFootball's regional presence as it is also the official broadcasting partner of the German Bundesliga in Brazil and across Latin America.

The partnership reflects OneFootball’s ambition to be the ultimate destination for everything football and provide fans with a complete, flexible and affordable offering. Through its platform and social media channels, OneFootball already reaches more than 70 million fans with the most comprehensive offering of content on and off the pitch, curated for a personalized experience. For fans, this will mean access to the latest statistics, breaking news and scores, as well as the ability to watch their favourite Brazilian players from the Ligue 1, including superstar Neymar, in action, all in one place.

Lucas von Cranach, CEO and founder of OneFootball, explains: "To be able to stream live action from Ligue 1, one of the biggest leagues in the world, directly to fans throughout Brazil solidifies our presence in the market and is a big step in the evolution of our company. Brazil’s new generation of football fans will have the opportunity to watch matches featuring some of their favourite stars, live and for free, at their fingertips. We are delighted with this partnership as we continue our mission to democratize live football around the world."

Martin Aurenche, Vice President of Sports Content and Acquisitions at beIN MEDIA GROUP, added: "In the age of new media we’re excited to work with OneFootball, and partnering with this group provides a great opportunity to strengthen Ligue 1’s position in Brazil, as it gives fans new and accessible ways to watch French football. This is against a backdrop of the international profile of Ligue 1 going from strength to strength, with record international audiences, increased media coverage, and growing social media engagement. This is replicated on the pitch with the league attracting and developing the very best football talent, as shown by the strong performances of PSG and Lyon in last season’s UEFA Champions League.

"There is long standing tradition of Brazilian talent in Ligue 1 which currently includes Brazilian national team stars Marquinhos, Lucas Paqueta and talisman Neymar. We are happy that Brazilian fans are now able to continue watching their favourite teams and stars from Ligue 1."
