Lima, Peru; March 8, 2019: The Lima 2019 World Broadcaster Meeting, organised in partnership with the Pan American and Parapan American Games’ host broadcaster, Mediapro, is underway at the Lima Convention Centre, with over 100 rights holding broadcasters in attendance.

The two-day event began Thursday 7 March, with introductions from Lima 2019 President Carlos Neuhaus; Panam Sports Vice President Keith Joseph; Peruvian Olympic Committee President Pedro Del Rosario; and Mediapro Director Francisco José de la Fuente.

Carlos Neuhaus welcomed the attendees and highlighted some of the organising committee’s most significant recent achievements, in particular the successful delivery of key sports infrastructure projects and Games operations planning. "It is important that we are all determinedly working together to achieve our goals," said Neuhaus. "I hope your visit here is valuable and productive, and that we can solve any concerns or issues that may arise."

Lima 2019’s development of new world-class sports facilities across the Peruvian capital is a major priority for the organising committee, with the unprecedented investment in Peru’s sports infrastructure set to have a lasting, positive impact on the country’s athletes and communities. National and international media in attendance will be given an exclusive tour of the new venues, including the Pan American and Parapan American Village, Videna Sports Complex, Callao Sports Centre and Villa El Salvador Sports Centre. The organising committee is on track to deliver all infrastructure projects on time and on budget, and demonstrate Peru’s readiness to stage elite events on the world stage.

Keith Joseph, representing Panam Sports, highlighted the importance of the World Broadcaster Briefing in delivering a high-quality broadcast product to fans around the world. "Mediapro is responsible for showing the competitions, the joy of triumph and the emotions of the medallists," he said. "We have no doubt that Lima 2019’s broadcasting will be of the highest standard of quality, and play a big part in that legacy of inspiring greater sports participation."

Joseph continued, "Mediapro will do everything necessary to make Lima 2019 a great success. We want these Games to be a symbol of Peru’s future. We are in the final phase of what will be the greatest Pan American Games in history and you can really see the advancements made and how far we have come. We are tremendously excited."

At the World Broadcaster Meeting, Mediapro will be providing updates on its operations and production plans, as well as its live transmissions, IBC design and space allocations. Atos, Official Partner of Lima 2019, is also participating in the meeting to discuss its significant role in managing the Games’ timing, scoring and results.
