The Pan American Games will have the support of more than 6,000 police officers who will graduate from Development Program 2017-1 called "Honesty" from various schools at the national level specializing in Professional Police Training, in June 2019.
The Supreme Decree issued by Peru’s President confirmed that hosting the Lima 2019 Pan American Games from July 26 to August 11 and the Parapan American Games from August 23 to September 1 is a matter of national interest with full government support to host these Games.
The police men and women will conduct their studies at different national schools belonging to the Higher Technical Professional Education of the National School of Professional Police Training (ENFPP), with the purpose of increasing the operative capacity of the police service to guarantee citizen security and protection to the participants before and during the realization of the Lima 2019 Games.
The Professional Police Training program is an educational process with academic, normative and administrative autonomy which aims to prepare, integrate, update, specialize and improve the National Police of Peru (PNP) through the highest level of the education system, thus guaranteeing professional service and the fundamental right of security for society.
The XVIII Pan American Games will feature 6,680 athletes from the 41 nations of Americas Olympic Movement, who will compete in 39 sports and 62 disciplines, 22 of which will be qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The Parapan American Games will receive 1,890 athletes from 33 countries throughout the continent, who will participate in 17 sports and 18 disciplines, 14 of which will qualify athletes to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
