(ATR) International Paralympic Committee president Philip Craven says communication must improve with future organizers of the Paralympic Games.
"There was real danger that although these Games would take place, they might not be to the standard that we’ve been used to when we look back to Sydney, Athens, Beijing and London," Craven tells Around the Rings.
"They didn’t communicate with us and didn’t’ tell us of the problems soon enough," he says. "When we get to the Rio debrief in Tokyo at the end of November there’s got to be some real straight talking and straight shooting that this will not be allowed to happen again."
Around the Rings Rio de Janeiro bureau chief Aaron Bauer spoke with Craven on the morning of para-canoe’s debut at the Paralympics.
Craven looks to the future of the Paralympic Movement and the need to initiate social change in different areas of the world.
