Kleber Da Silva Ramos and Xinyi Chen Disqualified from the Olympic Games

The Court of Arbitration for Sport issued a decision concerning athletes who have already been suspended provisionally by the CAS ADD.

Following a request from the IOC Medical and ScientificCommission Games Group, the Anti-doping Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS ADD)at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games issued the following decisions today concerning two athletes whohave already been suspended provisionally by the CAS ADD:

1) Kleber Da Silva Ramos (Brazil, cycling road race), positive test with EPO CERA; the athleteaccepted a provisional suspension on a voluntary basis; he did not request a hearing. Finalaward: the athlete is disqualified and excluded from the Olympic Games Rio 2016; hisaccreditation shall be withdrawn; the responsibility for the athlete’s results management interms of sanction beyond the Olympic Games Rio 2016 is referred to the International CyclingUnion (UCI).

2) Xinyi Chen (China, swimming, 100m butterfly), positive test with hydrochlorothiazide(specified substance); the athlete accepted a provisional suspension on a voluntary basis; ahearing on the merits of the case was held on 17 August 2016. Final award: the athlete isdisqualified from the Olympic Games Rio 2016; the responsibility for the athlete’s resultsmanagement in terms of sanction beyond the Olympic Games Rio 2016 is referred to theInternational Swimming Federation (FINA).Both decisions with grounds will be published on the CAS website (www.tas-cas.org) shortly.
