The Japanese Olympic Committee today announced that it has set up an investigation panel regarding the Tokyo 2020 Bid activities. The panel includes outside lawyers and an accountant which will investigate the consultancy agreement between the Tokyo 2020 Bid Committee and Singaporean company Black Tidings.
Yoshihisa Hayakawa, Professor of Law at Rikkyo University and practicing lawyer admitted in Japan, is appointed to head to the investigation panel. In the Sport Law field, Hayakawa serves as Chair of the Japan Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel and Member of the World Rugby Judicial Panel. The other two members are Kazuki Shishido, practicing lawyer and Vice-Chair of the Japan Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel; and Keiichi Kubo, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Japan and Canada.*
In addition, Kiichiro Matsumaru, Senior Executive Board Member of the JOC; and Kotaro Wakui, Senior Director for Trials, Bureau of General Affairs of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, will attend the panel meetings as observers.
The first meeting of the investigation panel will take place on Thursday, 26 May, 2016 from 10 am (JST) at the Yoyogi Gymnasium in Tokyo.**
