Effort Reflects Long Tradition of Involving Deserving Olympic Fans in the World's Greatest Event
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Learning that the scheduled Olympic accommodations that Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon had arranged for eleven wish families from Canada, the USA and Australia, were no longer available, Jet Set Sports stepped forward to provide all free accommodations for these families during the Games.
Since 1983, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Canada has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its magical wish-granting work. The Foundation's mission reflects the life-changing impact that the wish experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors and entire communities.
Jet Set Sports, the world's premier Olympic hospitality company, will ensure that each Olympic wish granted by the Foundation is an unparalleled success. Jet Set Sports had previously donated 68 event tickets to the Make-A-Wish Foundation®.
"Jet Set Sports has ensured that these courageous children will enjoy unforgettable wishes during the Vancouver Games," said Ross Hetherington, executive director of Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon. "Thanks to their effort and generosity, eleven children with life-threatening medical conditions, and their families, will experience the awe-inspiring event that is the Olympic Games. Sead is a true angel," referring to Sead Dizdarevic, chairman and CEO of Jet Set Sports.
12-year-old Matthew Vocino is one of the amazing Canadian wish children attending the Olympic Games. "Thank you everyone. We were not surprised by the community's reaction – we knew that someone would find a way to help make Matthew and the other children's wishes come true," said Michael Vocino, Matthew's father.
Jet Set Sports has been a key partner of the Olympic Movement for more than 25 years, and has donated thousands of tickets to events, and accommodations for those that need them, to Olympic Games volunteers, Olympic Aid, and numerous other non-profit organizations, in every Olympic Games for which the company has provided hospitality services.
"North America has truly rallied in support of our wish children," says Jennifer Ritter, CEO of Make-A-Wish Canada. "On behalf of our wish children and their families, thank you for your generosity!"
"As proud supporters of the Olympic Movement and the ideals that it seeks to advance, we're constantly looking for unique opportunities to involve youngsters in the magnificence of the Olympic Games," said Sead Dizdarevic, chairman and CEO of Jet Set Sports. "When I read about this situation, I knew we had to step in and help.
