Abe, Masuzoe Discuss 2020 Olympics
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and newly-elected Tokyo governor Yoichi Masuzoe met today in Tokyo to discuss the cooperation necessary for the Tokyo Olympics.
"Tokyo was chosen as the host as it can surely do it," Abe was quoted by Japan Kyodo News Agency. "We would like to do our best."
In his talks, Masuzoe provided Abe with details of his time in Sochi.
London Aquatics Center Open to Public
The London Aquatics Center will open to the public on March 1, allowing Londoners to swim laps where Michael Phelps, Ellie Simmonds, and other stars won gold during London 2012.
Two swimming pools, a divingpool, and a gymnasium are the facilities on offer.
The London Legacy Development Corporation, the organization tasked with ensuring a legacy from the Games called the opening "a key moment in the aftermath of the Games."
The Aquatics Center is the second of London’s Olympic facilities to be re-opened following the Games. The Copper Box Arena was the first.
Basel to Repeat as Curling Championship Host
Basel, Switzerland will host the 2016 men’s world curling championships.
The World Curling Federation made the announcement on Wednesday. The city also hosted the event in 2012.
"Basel has proven time and time again that it can put on a first class curling event and we look forward to seeing them showcase our sport to the world once again in 2016," World Curling Federation President Kate Caithness said.
The championship will take place April 2 – 11 in the St. Jakobshalle venue.
