Roma 2024 takes the field with the two major football teams of the city in the week they are playing their derby: Roma and Lazio. The Bid Committee’s road show starting today, aims at involving in a symbolic exchange of shirts, Serie A and B football clubs of the eleven cities chosen as venues for the 2024 Olympic football tournament. Before the morning training session, Roma 2024 Bid Committee general coordinator Diana Bianchedi, met the Roma team captain Francesco Totti, Daniele De Rossi, Alessandro Florenzi and coach Luciano Spalletti in their technical center in Trigoria. "The path is traced: the history of our muscles, the Eternal City’s run, the goal of the Olympics. We Want Roma 2024" Spalletti emphasized. Special football shirts with the Roma 2024 logo were delivered to the club while coordinator Diana Bianchedi received a shirt with the number 2024 showing full support of the Roma team to the city’s bid.
In the afternoon, Roma 2024 visited Formello, the training center of the Lazio team. Diana Bianchedi met football players Antonio Candreva, Marco Parolo, Danilo Cataldi and coach Stefano Pioli. The shirt exchange took place with the blue and white club as well. "As a sportsman, I hope that Roma will win the chance to host the Olympic Games - said Stefano Pioli - it can be a great opportunity not only for the city but for the entire country. It would be an honor to host an important event like the Olympic Games, I truly hope that Rome will achieve this extraordinary milestone".
