Italian classical tenor Andrea Bocelli has become the latest IJF Ambassador

The singer-songwriter was presented with Ambassador status by IJF President Vizer in Budapest.

The recording artist and singer-songwriter, was presented with IJF Ambassador status by the IJF President Mr. Marius Vizer in Budapest which is home to the IJF Presidential Office. Mr. Vizer said: "This is a great honour for the international judo community to have such a great person, human being and artist as the new IJF ambassador."

Bocelli has recorded fourteen solo studio albums, of both pop and classical music, three greatest hits albums, and nine complete operas, selling over 150 million records worldwide.

The 57-year-old Italian received the Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic (Grande Ufficiale Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana) in Rome, on 4 March 2006 and, on 2 March 2010, was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contribution to Live Theatre. The Andrea Bocelli Foundation was launched in 2011 with the mission of funding medical research and fighting poverty.
