IPC Gains and Renews Partnerships -- Sponsor Spotlight

(ATR) The International Paralympic Committee announced its recent collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank.

The two, in company with theAgitos Foundation, are working topromote awareness of the Paralympic movement by increasing access to Para sport and constructing proper pathways for the hundreds of people in underserved communities with impaired living.

Along with gaining new partners, the IPC is continuing its relationship with BP until the end of 2020.

The oil and gas company has been a TOP sponsor of the Games since London 2012 and continues to work with the IPC bysponsoring five Paralympians this year including track and field athlete Tatyana McFadden and para-triathlete Melissa Stockwell.

"Not only do we share a similar value in courage but BP, through its ‘Energy Within’ campaign, summed up perfectly what it is that makes Paralympians do superhuman things that redefine the boundaries of possibility"IPC President Philip Craven said in a statement.

BP is also the first United States Olympic Committee corporate partner to sponsor more Paralympians than Olympians.

Samsung Promotes Paralympic Games Program

Samsung will be hosting a variety of activations throughout the Paralympic Games.

"The Paralympic Games are a global movement that inspire and celebrate the spirit of progress and the human challenge," Younghee Lee, executive vice president of global marketing for mobile communications business at Samsung, said in a statement.

"We hope our Rio 2016 Paralympic Games campaign will help spark a global conversation around seeing ability over disability and enable everyone to participate in the Paralympic movement," he adds.

Samsung’s Galaxy Studios in Rio will be remodeled in order for fans to engage in interactive experiences though the company’s 4D technology such as the Gear VR and allow visitors to play virtual Olympic sports and more.

Samsung is also partnering with the International Paralympic Committee to give the opportunity to 30 Paralympians to create exclusive video logs, or vlogs. The content will allow fans to get a behind the scenes view of how these athletes are "defying barriers" and demonstrating their abilities to the world at the Games.

Nissan Makes Its Presence Known at Paralympics

Nissan played a key role in the Paralympic Torch Relay and is continuing its support of the Games during the Paralympics.

Of the 700 torchbearers who carried the Paralympic Flame across each region of Brazil, 85 were appointed by Nissan.

The company’s presence will not only be felt by Paralympians but throughout Rio as well as they engage locals and other visitors with the Nissan Kicks House where spectators can come to learn about Nissan’s new technologies and play games focused on Nissan Kicks, the official car of the Games which is said to be inspired by the "spirit and colors of Brazil".

During the Games Nissan will be providing 4,200 vehicles acting as the Paralympic fleet as the company did during the Olympics.

A non-profit program named "Adapt Surf" partnered with Nissan for the Paralympics to promote the "social inclusion of people with disabilities and or reduced mobility".

Along with the Games, Nissan has been a supporter of the Miratus Association which offers educational support to young adults and "Caju: A New Look" a program that sets out to transform an impoverished area of Rio, Caju.

FISU Announces Partnership with Qiaodan Sports

QiaodanSports has partnered with the International University Sports Federation for the next four years as their exclusive sports gear supplier.

The athletic apparel company has been associated with other University Sports Associations and Olympic Committees and through this their brand has been seen throughout the Asian Games and the Olympics.

This new deal was struck as FISU was in the process of developing new marketing, communication, and commercial strategies and is focusing on the expansion of the Games concept at both Universiades and World University Championships.

"We are thrilled to announce this exciting partnership between FISU and QiaodanSports. QiaodanSports has shown its dedication to university and Olympic sport over many years and has developed sport domestically and internationally through billions of dollars of investment. This long-term commitment to sport really impressed FISU," FISU President Oleg Matytsin said in a statement.

Time, Security and Paper for Sapporo 2017

The 2017 Sapporo Winter Asian Games signed three sponsorship deals since September 1.

Seiko, ALSOK and Fuji Xerox Hokkaido were announced as sponsors by SAWOC, the Games' organizing committee.

Seiko will provide timing services, ALSOK is the new security services provider and Fuji Xerox Hokkaido is the new document services partner. SAWOC has 17 sponsors total.

The Sapporo Asian Winter Games start on Feb.14, 2017.
