(ATR) The International Paralympic Committee and egoli Media join forces to enhance the IPC's media experience while producing a new source of revenue.
Egoli is using Artificial Intelligence technology to revamp the IPC's content management system.
Members and IPC stakeholders will have access to countless Paralympic medal ceremonies, in stadium coverage and more features. Egoli’s AI technology will optimize the user's experience, by identifying people, places, actions and brands.
For the first time, IPC live and archive content has been digitized. egoli has digitized over 8,000 hours of Paralympic Games dating back to 1992.
Roughly 1,500 hours of Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games footage is scheduled to be catalogued upon the Games' conclusion. The joint vision of egoli and the IPC is to increase accessibility and create new opportunities for storytelling.
Caroline Rowland, Founder and CEO of egoli Media tells Around the Rings:
"The fundamental part of it is really to service stakeholders better. This was driven very much to digitize the 8,000 hours of content. Which of course makes it easier for the stakeholders to use. The storytelling is really what lies at the heart of the motivation, I believe for them doing this. It's about empowering every IPC stakeholder to have ease of access to content in order to tell the most powerful and engaging stories."
The partnership with egoli also provides future streams of revenue for the IPC, creating a platform to distribute its underused hours of Paralympic content.
"One of the focal points is being able to add greater value to those partners. Together with them we start to explore the distribution opportunities beyond the traditional rights boundaries. I think then we will see a real unlocking of potential through various forms of content distribution." says Rowland.
In sport alone, the secondary content market is estimated to be worth $6.2 billion.
The deal between the IPC and egoli Media runs until December 31, 2024.
