Jean-Claude Killy warns Paris 2024

French IOC Member Jean-Claude Killy gave a potential Paris bid some words of warning in an interview this weekend.

Killy warned the city not to be arrogant, and to not play the centenary card during a potential bid. Killy was the head of the Albertville Organizing Committee for the 1992 Winter Olympics.

"We can't turn up once every ten years and tell the whole world what the Olympic movement is about," said Killy to the newspaper Journal du Dimanche.

"They should create a Team France obviously backed by the mayor [of Paris]."

Killy also warned against a potential American bid, saying they "will be hard to beat."

When asked if he would have a role in a potential bid, Killy said it would be "out of the question, or only a helping hand."

Paris previously bid for the 2012 Olympics, losing to London in the final vote. The city previously hosted the 1924 Olympics.

New Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Ambassador

The IOC says Michelle Wie will serve as a Youth Olympic Games ambassador to Nanjing.

Wie previously had served on the delegation to Copenhagen that helped golf gain re-inclusion into the Olympic Program.

Golf will be making its Youth Olympic Games debut in Nanjing.

"I’m hoping to teach young people to have fun with their game, to be competitive, and to realize the importance of having a dream," said Wie in a statement to the IOC.

"I think it’s really important to inspire young people to take up sport; it’s important to be active and be outdoors."
