IOC Executive Board member Craig Reedie of Great Britain and British Columbia Finance Minister Colin Hansen complete the lineup for the Around the Rings Newsmaker Breakfast, set for February 22 in Vancouver.

The Breakfast theme is “Keeping the Games Alive” – what happens when the Olympics have come and gone from the host city. The event is sponsored by VisitBritain and UK Sport.

In addition to his role at the IOC, Reedie is also a member of London 2012. Hansen is the person charged with managing the 2010 Games’ budget at a time of global recession.

"I am happy to join a distinguished panel at the ATR Newsmakers Breakfast and to provide a view from London 2012 on the importance of a real and continuing sports legacy after an Olympic Games," Reedie said.

Reedie and Hansen join ATR editor Ed Hula, Sochi 2014 CEO Dmitry Chernyshenko, UK Sport Chief Executive John Steele and five-time Olympian Charmaine Crooks on a panel that will discuss the legacy of the Games and how they can become a platform for other sports events.

Crooks, who is also a member of the 2010 organizing committee, said, “I’m very pleased that the Newsmaker Breakfast will take place at the Olympians Reunion Center the home away from home for Olympians. Legacies are very important for the Olympic Movement – and especially for the athletes. “

Members of the audience will also have the chance to win a piece of outerwear from the new Olympic Museum line of clothing from XP Companies. The clothing is based on logos and looks from past Olympic Games.

The Newsmaker Breakfast will take place at the Olympians Reunion Center, 51 East Pender Street in the Wing Sang Historic Building, in Chinatown. There is no parking at the venue, and guests are encouraged to park at EasyPark, at Keefer and Quebec Streets. Click here for a map.

Around the Rings Newsmaker Breakfasts began at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta when newsmakers were invited to the ATR office for an informal chat with select journalists. Since then it has become a truly international event, with breakfasts in Sydney, Salt Lake City, Beijing, London, Chicago, Copenhagen and now Vancouver.

Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8 a.m., followed by ATR editor Ed Hula introducing the topic and panel at 8 a.m. The floor will be turned over to questions from the audience for the remainder of the event after a Q & A with the panelists.

Space is strictly limited. RSVP via email to: breakfast@aroundtherings.com, or call Isia Reaves +1 404 874 1603.
