On February 17, the final stage of the FIBT Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup 2012/13 has come to an end at the Sliding Center "Sanki" in Sochi. The season’s last four-man bobsleigh race has decided the World Cup winners in this discipline and in total.
After two runs of the competition, Oskars Melbardis of Latvia has won the race as Germany’s Thomas Florschütz came second. Two Russia’s bobs have shared the third place as Alexander Zubkov and Alexander Kasjanov finished with an equal time.
Overall, Alexander Zubkov has become the World Cup 2012/13 winner in the four-man bobsleigh and Oskars Melbardis – in the total (two-man + four-man) rankings.
On February 18, the next international test event will start at the Sliding Center "Sanki" – the final stage of the Luge World Cup 2012/13.

Oskars Melbardis (Latvia): "It was an interesting week that was lucky for the team of Latvia. Our victory is an outcome of the tough season, so it’s a happy day for us. We have managed to use our chance. The track is very good, we can show high speed on it, we didn’t have any problems there."
Alexander Zubkov (Russia): "The race was very interesting. I congratulate Alexander Kasjanov who passed brilliantly the second run and also took the third place. This increases our chances to do well at the Olympics in Sochi. We had a very good support here, competing at home is really nice. I would say that support was 100%, thank you!"
Thomas Florschütz (Germany): "The race was not bad and in general I am satisfied with the result. We had some problems at the start as our injured pusher Kevin [Kuske] stayed home. Next year, we should get bigger advantage at the start. I feel comfortable at this track, and results speak for themselves. I am looking forward to the Olympics with good motivation, and I plan to achieve much there."
