Former EPFL head, Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, to become Chief Executive of ICSS Europe
London, 21st May 2014: The International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) is to expand its global strategy and operations with a European Head Office.
With its growing portfolio of European partners in the field of sport safety, security and integrity, including the European Professional Football Leagues (EPFL), Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL), Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional (LFP), Lega Pro, European Lotteries and the Olympic Committee of Portugal, the ICSS will strengthen its position and resources in Europe from June this year.
As part of the need to further enhance cooperation with the sporting community and build on closer partnerships with European-based political authorities, ICSS Europe will continue to enhance the organisation’s global reach and proactive stance in the fight against corruption and other detrimental practices in sport.
Under the leadership of CEO Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros; the ICSS Europe will also be established as a focal point to address emerging trends which further threaten sport at global level, such as issues around third-party ownership, financial integrity, good governance in sport and protection of young athletes.
Mohammed Hanzab, ICSS President, said:

Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, who stepped down in March this year, from his position as CEO of the European Professional Football Leagues (EPFL) after nine years, said he was inspired by Mohammed Hanzab’s personal vision and commitment to sport.

Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros is also an ICSS Advisory Board Member, having joined the Board at the beginning of the year. He will take up his position as Chief Executive of ICSS Europe in early June.
