(ATR) Beijingers may be supporting the city’s Winter Olympic bid by visiting the hospital.
Li Guoping, the head of Beijing’s Sports Medicine Hospital, reports a recent increase in treatment for winter sports-related injuries.
According to Guoping, the development "reflects the growing popularity of winter sports in China."
Government advisor and former NBA star Yao Ming also believes that the Beijing 2022 bid will raise winter sports to a prominent position in China.
"The Beijing 2022 bid would make Chinese people understand more about sport," Ming told media during the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in Beijing.
"As the Winter Olympics feature more outdoor events than the Summer Games, it will get more Chinese involved in sport."
The IOC evaluation commission will be in Beijing from March 24 to 28. The host city for the 2022 Olympics will be selected on July 31 at the 128th IOC Session in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
