Munhak Stadium, built for the 2002 World Cup, will be the main venue for the Incheon Asian Games.(ATR) Incheon, South Korea will be the host of the 2014 Asian Games, defeating New Delhi in a vote held Tuesday by the Olympic Council of Asia meeting in Kuwait.

OCA President Sheik Ahmed Al Fahad Al Sabah said that in the "interest of unity", the results of the voting among the 45 member nations of the OCA would not be announced.

The campaign between Incheon and New Delhi has been rancorous at times.

Located about 80 kilometers west of Seoul, Incheon will be the third South Korea host of the games after 2002 in Busan and 1986 in Seoul.

Incheon is offering free transport and accommodations to all competitors. In addition, the city is also promising to raise $20 million to help boost sports programs in Asian nations which have yet to win a medal at the games.

The vote for Incheon comes just weeks after Daegu, South Korea was chosen as the host for the 2011 IAAF World Championships. Whether this bodes well for PyeongChang’s bid for the 2014 Winter Olympics remains to be seen. The vote for 2014 by the IOC takes place on July 4.

Indian sports leaders blame the Delhi loss on the government for not showing more support.

“I have no idea what went wrong. We have learnt a lesson, that we have to work together," said Randhir Singh, secretary general of the Indian Olympic Association. Singh is also secretary general of the OCA.

In other news from the Kuwait OCA meeting, cricket will be added to the program for the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, while body building comes off the program.
