(ATR) The 2002 Winter Olympics host city remains "ready, willing and able" to bid for the 2030 or 2034 Games after submitting formal letters of interest to the IOC.

The Salt Lake City-Utah Committee for the Games met Tuesday for only the second time in its existence with a virtual gathering on Zoom. The pandemic took hold soon after the committee’s first meeting in late February.

However, the uncertainty still gripping the sporting world "hasn’t dampened our enthusiasm," said Fraser Bullock, the group’s President and CEO and a holdover from 2002 when he was the Chief Operating Officer for the Salt Lake City organizing committee.

ATRadio: Cortina Slopes Ready But "Flexibility" is Crucial

(ATR) Alessandro Benetton emphasizes a youth-oriented philosophy and sustainable vision in terms of hosting the 2021 Alpine World Ski Championships, while also building upon the legacy of the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Winter Olympics.

The Italian businessman and Cortina 2021 president also drives home the need for flexibility considering uncertainties caused by the coronavirus situation.

"The name of the game for us today is flexibility – we can imagine what this event will look like and we are still optimistic," Benetton tells ATR’s Brian Pinelli in the latest video edition of ATRadio.

"We are still expecting 1,000 people on the grounds for the ski race, of course everything being managed in safety and in the proper manner."

AIBA Judges Dominican Case Ahead of Congress

(ATR) The Dominican Republic Boxing Federation (FEDOBOXA) faces a disciplinary process by the International Boxing Association (AIBA) that must conclude before AIBA's electoral Congress, Around the Rings has learned.

This is the reason why the Electoral Committee made "the provisional decision" to exclude FEDOBOXA from the list of eligible members for the AIBA Virtual Congress, which will elect a new president in 25 days.

This consideration is contained in a document sent on Monday to FEDOBOXA and to nine other Caribbean federations by the AIBA Disciplinary Commission, according to a source close to AIBA. The Boxing Confederation of the Americas (AMBC) also received this notice that sets dates for the process.
