(ATR) Czech athletes and Olympians returned to competition as track and field facilities open up across the Czech Republic.

The ‘Back on the Track’ meeting at Sletiste Stadium in Kladno, just outside of Prague, was the first of six scheduled national events over the coming weeks. With coronavirus restrictions easing in the Czech Republic, more than 170 facilities across the country held events for participants across all levels.

Double Olympic champion Barbora Špotáková threw a javelin in competition for the first time since the world championships in Doha, Qatar last fall.

Olympian Bobby Joe Morrow, Paralympian Margaret Maughan

(ATR) The lives of Olympic and Paralympic champions from another era are remembered.

Bobby Joe Morrow, a lanky sprinter from Texas, winner of three gold medals at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne, is said to have been the best Olympic sprinter since Jesse Owens at the 1936 Games.

Morrow died May 30 in Harlingen, Texas. He was 84.

Morrow won the 100 m, 200 m and anchored the team in the relay for gold medal number three.

Kevan Gosper, a silver medalist in the 4 x 400 relay team for Australia, didn’t compete against the U.S. phenomenon. But in an email, Gosper tells Around the Rings Morrow was one of the stars of those first Olympics in Australia.

(ATR) En unos días quedará definida la nueva fecha de los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe en la Ciudad de Panamá en 2022.

"No hay nada oficial aún" aclaró a Around the Rings el presidente de la Organización Deportiva Centroamericana y del Caribe, el dominicano Luis Mejía Oviedo.

Los Juegos estaban programados del 9 al 24 de junio de 2022 pero en las últimas semanas sus organizadores y autoridades locales insistieron en que como efecto de la pandemia del coronavirus se hace necesario un cambio de fecha.
