Lausanne - On the occasion of the Lausanne stage of the first ever flame relay preceeding the 22nd Summer Deaflympics, SportAccord had the honour to welcome the flame today at its Maison du Sport International Office, presented by ICSD CEO Marc Cooper.

During this visit, an agreement has been signed between ICSD and SportAcord for providing anti-doping services at the 2013 Summer Deaflympics, including the administration of therapeutic use exemptions and tests results management.

The Doping-Free Sport Unit is particularly pleased with this operational partnership, the first with one of the SportAccord Associate Members, mostly composed of Major Events Organizations that are Signatories to the World Anti-Doping Code.

The 2013 Summer Deaflympics are being held from 26 July to 4 August 2013 in Sofia, Bulgaria, gathering 3,000 athletes from 92 countries in 18 sports.
