Innsbruck, 14th January 2012: Generations For Peace Founder and Chairman, HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein has received one of three prestigious AIPS Power of Sport Awards in recognition of Generations For Peace’s exceptional work in uniting children and youth from communities in conflict through sport.

HRH Prince Feisal was presented with a trophy at the 75th AIPS Congress at the Innsbruck 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games and said:

"I am delighted and honoured to receive this AIPS Power of Sport Award on behalf of Generations For Peace and in recognition of all that we and our partners have achieved by harnessing the power of sport to unite conflicted communities.

"Generations For Peace promotes the values of Olympism through all levels of sport domestically and internationally, instilling peace, active tolerance, and responsible citizenship by empowering youth to lead and cascade sustainable change in communities experiencing conflict; so it is highly appropriate that we are receiving this award at the first ever Winter Youth Olympic Games.

"We are very grateful to AIPS for their support in helping to raise awareness of Generations For Peace work and objectives."

HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco (Peace and Sport) and Italian multi-disciplined Paralympic athlete Fabrizio Macchi also received Power of Sport Awards.

Austrian President Dr Heinz Fischer officially opened the AIPS Congress with IOC President Jacques Rogge and a host of IOC members in attendance.

Whilst at the Winter Youth Olympic Games, HRH Prince Feisal will also be involved in a number of high level meetings:

"Generations For Peace will be meeting with existing and potential partners throughout the Innsbruck 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games to promote our work and discuss plans for future Generations For Peace programmes", said HRH Prince Feisal.
