The Gwangju 2015 Universiade Organizing Committee (GUOC) signed partnership agreements with two local bodies on Wednesday, April 22.

The GUOC signed an agreement with the Gwangju Council for Local Agenda 21. The signing ceremony took place at the GUOC headquaters, attended by the organizing committee Secretary General Kim Yoon-suk and the head of the local council Kim Byung-wan.

As one of Gwangju Universiade’s initiatives to host an eco-friendly event, both parties pledged to work together towards a common goal.

Specifically, both organizations concurred to promote pan-regional campaigns and to coordinate eco-friendly projects while actively promoting the Universiade.

In particular, the council proclaimed a code of conduct for citizens, following the signing ceremony.

The code advises the locals to cut down on disposable items, use public transportation, sort out daily garbage and use eco-friendly products.

The organizing committee signed the second agreement with the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) to forge a comprehensive business partnership.

The GUOC Secretary General Kim and the head of HIRA's Gwangju office Kang Jung-sook took part in the signing ceremony.

As a result, HIRA agreed to help promote the games, support the Universiade supporters, participate in the torch relay event and purchase Universiade tickets.
