(ATR) South Korean government auditors completed an audit of the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics’ management and finances.
The Associated Press reports that South Korea’s Board of Audit conducted an audit of the organizing committee’s finances and management, the agency said on Tuesday.
The investigation reportedly took place from May to July 11 with the findings expected to be published in three months.
Jin Sun Kim, president of POCOG, resigned his position on Monday, saying the Games needed new leadership.
Construction on the speedskating venue started on July 17—a delayed start date—and the first sponsor for the Games was not signed until July 2—three years after winning the Games, a date much later than when a first sponsor is traditionally signed for an Olympics. Those issues were not specifically mentioned as being part of the audit.
PyeongChang 2018 could not be immediately reached for comment about the audit.
On Monday, the IOC told Around the Rings following President Kim’s resignation, "We held our last project review meeting with POCOG at the end of June and developed with them a clear roadmap of activities until the end of the year. We have full confidence that these activities will be delivered by the POCOG team in a timely manner and using their existing processes. We continue to work closely with them on their preparations for the Games."
