(ATR) The longest-serving female president of an Olympic federation is royalty in more ways than one.
The youngest daughter of King Hussein I of Jordan and younger wife of UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum, Princess Haya Al Hussein is herself an accomplished leader.
An international rider since the age of 13, she won show jumping bronze at the Damascus 1992 Pan Arab Games and later rode at the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
After retiring from horse sport, Princess Haya, 38, was elected president of the International Equestrian Federation in 2006, joined the IOC in 2007 and won another four years atop FEI in 2010.
Other duties within the Olympic Movement include serving as a member of the Honorary Board of the International Paralympic Committee and chairing the Dubai Organizing Committee for SportAccord 2010.
As a Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations World Food Program, UN Messenger of Peace and Chairperson of Dubai Healthcare City Authority, she is also an active humanitarian.
