(ATR) Jimena Saldana is the Secretary General for the Pan American Sports Organization, overseeing the day-to-day running of the umbrella organization for National Olympic Committees in the Americas.
She assumed the position in 2010, but she is best known for being the long-serving aide for PASO President Mario Vazquez Rana. In that position, Saldana effectively serves as gatekeeper for the president, ensuring his message is effectively communicated to PASO members and the media, and most critically, acting as his trusted translator.
With her promotion to the PASO Secretary General position, she became a member of the Executive Council for the Association of National Olympic Committees representing PASO on the board. Since 2012, she now represents PASO at all international meetings.
A native of Mexico, Saldana became First Vice President of the Mexican Olympic Committee in 2011.
