(ATR) The new president of South Korea, Geun-hye Park, will pilot the nation towards the 2018 Olympics in PyeongChang.
She assumed office on February 25 and her one and only term will expire in 2017 just as the 2018 Games close.
Her government is in charge of infrastructure projects that could cost as much as $6 billion. One of the key infrastructure projects is a high-speed rail link to Olympic venues two hours east of Seoul.
The highest reaches of business and politics in South Korea are known for being incredibly cut-throat and navigating domestic political waters could be Park’s strongest challenge.
Park, 61, served in the Korean Parliament from 1998 to 2012 with the conservative Saenuri Party. She is also the daughter of a former president of South Korea.
