(ATR) Russian Olympic Committee international relations chief Elena Anikina will have a busy year ahead.
With the coming of the Sochi Olympics, she’ll play a leading role for the Russian Olympic Committee with other NOCs and Olympic dignitaries. Also ahead this year are the SportAccord Convention in St. Petersburg, the IAAF World Championships in Moscow and the Sochi 2014 Olympic Torch Relay.
Anikina, 51, is also responsible for the international positioning of the ROC as well as lobbying for Russian sport interests.
Before joining the ROC in 2010, Anikina worked for private firms in government and international relations.
In 2005, she was named chair of the bid committee for the Sochi 2014 Olympics. She is a member of the IOC Women and Sport Commission.
Her Olympics career started at the 1980 Games in Moscow, where she was an interpreter.
