(ATR) Leaders of the three bids for the 2020 Olympics are counting on influencing IOC members to vote for their cities in 2013. The bid leaders from Istanbul, Madrid and Tokyo will turn on the charm Jan. 1 when international campaigning can begin ahead of the Sept. 7 IOC vote.

Istanbul is led by IOC member and archery federation president Ugur Erdener with ex-basketball star and businessman Hasan Arat as CEO. Communications strategy consultant Jon Tibbs and team advises Istanbul.

Spanish NOC President Alejandro Blanco leads the Madrid bid with Olympian and NOC vp Theresa Zabell handling international relations. Spain has three IOC members to aid with the lobbying: Executive Board member Juan Antonio Samaranch, Jr. and federation presidents Marisol Casado (triathlon) and Jose Perurena (canoe).

The commander of the Tokyo bid is Tsunekazu Takeda, Japan NOC president and IOC member. Bid CEO is Masato Mizuno.
