FISU partners with EPIC for Summer Universiade

The International University Sports Federation will celebrate its 70th anniversary at the 30th edition of the Summer Universiade in Naples in 2019.

Though that might seem like a long time from now, time is actually short given that the Italian city was only awarded the hosting rights earlier this year.

With only 34 months to prepare rather than the traditional 60,FISU is partnering with the event planning company EPIC to meet the tighter deadline.

EPIC will also assist in formulating a planning model that centers around making this edition more cost effective.

"We are very excited about the opportunity to support FISU and Naples 2019 SU organizers and to put into action what we believe is a more efficient and cost-sensitive operational planning paradigm," EPIC President Alan Shaw said in a statement.

FISU and EPIC representatives kicked off the initial planning phase with the 2019 Summer Universiade Organizing Committee at a recent three-day workshop in Naples.
