THE Bahrain women’s volleyball team will wrap up their preparations for next week’s Third GCC Women’s Games tomorrow.

Bahrain will take on Nabeel Saleh or Al Ma’ameer in a tune-up game that is scheduled to take place at Riffa Club gym in Hunainiya.

The match represent a final rehearsal for the nationals ahead of the third edition games, to be held in Bahrain from Sunday. The Games concludes on March 13.

Managed by head coach Abduljalil Al Aradi and his assistant Ahmed Saleh, Bahrain took a morale-boosting 3-2 victory over A’ali in a recently-played friendly at the Bahrain Volleyball Association gym at Isa Sports City in Riffa.

In this regards, team manager Asma Al Kooheji emphasized the readiness of all the Bahraini players who were chosen for the GCC Games, noting that their main target is clinching gold medal and the cup glory.

Despite having Ghada Marhoon and Hessa Al Zayani injured during the team training programme, Al Kooheji said both players have been gradually recovering and they showed improvement in the team’s most recent friendly against A’ali.

Meanwhile, volleyball referees committee secretary Jassim Siyadi said six referees in total have been chosen for the tournament.

They are Khalid Al Shomeli of Bahrain Rasheed Meghrab of Oman, UAE’s Mohammed Sultan, Naif Al Humaidan of Kuwait, in addition to Mohammed Al Kuwari of Qatar and Ebrahim Al Mahmood.

There are eight sporting events taking place in this edition Games, following the cancellation of the football championship due to the unavailability of most of the GCC teams.

They remaining six are basketball, taekwondo, bowling, table tennis, athletics, shooting and athletics for the disabled.

The table tennis, taekwondo and basketball will all take place at Isa Sports City premises in Riffa.

Khalifa Sports City sports facilities, based in Isa Town, are to embrace athletics and disabled athletics.

Shooting competitions will be held at the shooting range in Sakhir, while Sitra Mall's Ozone Entertaining Centre is scheduled to hold the bowling event.
