GCC Meetings timetable approved

The GCC General Secretariat has finalized the timetable for a number of significant regional meetings taking place in Bahrain from November 8 to 11.

Bahrain will first host Executive and Follow-Up Committee meetings on November 8 at 9.30pm. The consultative meeting of the Executive Committee will be held the following day at 10.30am, while a gala dinner in honor of the general secretaries of the National Olympic Committees is set for 8.30pm start.

On November 10, the 78th meeting of the GCC Olympic Committees Presidents' Executive Committee is scheduled to take place at 10.30am.

Some of the subjects to be discussed in this meeting are some observations of the Qatari Olympic Committee regarding the report of the 77th Executive Committee meeting as well as other issues related to the GCC Basketball OrganisingCommittee and reviewing a report of the Omani Olympic Committee on activating the youth programmes.

The executive committee will also review the GCC Organising Committee Award, besides the provided nutritions at sports villages during GCC competitions, and reviewing ministerial council decisions in its 127th term, the GCC Organising Committee plans for the remaining of 2013 and discussing the GCC Youth and Sports ministers' proposal in their 27th meeting to include all sports committee under the Executive Committee umbrella.

The final day of meetings is scheduled for November 11 when both the GCC Executive Committee and GCC Sport Organising Committee Presidents hold a joint meeting at 10.30am.

In this meeting, several topics will be highlighted, such as reviewing the sport bylaws of the GCC Organsing Committee, besides plans and budgets of the committee, the increment for the GCC sport committees and reviewing observations of GCC General Secretariat besides other proposals and suggestions from the committee.

These meetings will be held under the supervision of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), which has stepped up its preparations to host this year's gathering.

The working committees for this event have already been formed. They are media, housing and transport, secretarial, public relations, information technology and financial committees.
