Trop tard ? Trop vieux ? Trop vide ? Sûrement. Lamine Diack, 87 ans depuis dimanche 7 juin, se présentera ce lundi matin devant la 32ème chambre correctionnelle du tribunal judiciaire de Paris. L’ancien président de la Fédération internationale d’athlétisme (1999 à 2015) doit comparaître pour des accusations de corruption, blanchiment en bande organisée et abus de confiance. Il risque jusqu’à 10 ans de prison.

Sur le papier, l’audience du Sénégalais, longtemps présenté comme le dirigeant sportif africain le plus influent du mouvement olympique, ne manque pas d’intérêt. Pendant six jours, Lamine Diack et ses hommes de loi devront faire la lumière sur un vaste système de corruption et d’ingérence politique. Une véritable « organisation criminelle », pour reprendre les mots du Parquet national financier (PNF), ayant permis d’exhorter 3,45 millions d’euros à des athlètes russes dopés en échange de la promesse d’étouffer leur affaire.
