Meteorite Medals

Winners of gold medals on February 15th will receive an extra commemorative medal with pieces of the Chelyabinsk meteorite in them.

The extra medals commemorate the one year anniversary of the meteorites’ impact in Lake Chebarkul.

The 10 gold medal winners will receive the commemorative medals in a special ceremony, while 40 more are expected to be sold to private collectors.

A special nickel coating will be put on the medals, which will be made with a combination of gold and silver. A special medal crafting process dating to 1815 will be used to make the medals according to website Novyy Region.
