Famous artistic gymnast Nellie Kim, a five-time Olympic champion, five-time world champion and two-time European champion, became a Star Ambassador of the 2nd European Games. She was presented with a certificate about her new role today in Minsk.

Nellie Kim is currently in the Belarusian capital as the head judge of the international test competitions in artistic gymnastics for the 2nd European Games, which are taking place at the Minsk Arena from April 25-27.

The CEO of the Minsk European Games Organising Committee (MEGOC) George Katulin presented Nellie Kim with a certificate stating her new title as the Star Ambassador of the upcoming multi-sport event.

"I am grateful for this honour. Being named a Star Ambassador of the 2nd European Games is additional responsibility since it is important to convey to people objective, complete and the most truthful information possible about these major competitions. Now, having received a certificate and this top title, I see my role as advertising the Games even more proactively. For me, it is important to do this because the Games will take place in our Republic and the Games programme will include artistic gymnastics, in which I am a judge," said Nellie Kim.

Nellie Kim is an Honoured Master of Sport of the USSR. After retiring from competitive sport, she worked for a long time as a coach with various national gymnastics teams, including Belarus. Later she became an international judge and has judged such major competitions as the Olympic Games, World and European Championships. She currently serves as a Vice-President of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) and Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Gymnastics Association (BAG).
