FISU CTI conducts in-depth inspection on Gwangju Universiade preparations

For 14 days, the International Technical Committee conducts inspection of Gwangju Games-

The members of the International Technical Committee (CTI) of FISU (International University Sports Federation), headed by John Warnock, the FISU CTI-UE Chair, is conducting an inspection of the preparations for the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade for 14 days, from May 29th to June 11th.

This 2nd CTI Inspection, whereas the 1st inspection was conducted in November 2012, will mainly focus on Games operational readiness per sport as well as the competition venues. The inspection delegation will be divided into 3 groups, including the FISU Secretariat staff, CTI members and technical delegates for each sport.

The inspection will begin with a sports seminar being held on the 29th, followed by visits to the 68 competition and training facilities for the 20 sports, excluding swimming, and examine the facility standards, court layout, lighting, medical offices, locker rooms, and showers at each venue.

In addition, in-depth discussion will be taking place with the related staff on operational organization, game management, refurbishment of existing venues, catering, accommodation, transportation, security and other related issues to overall game operation.

After arriving in Gwangju on the 28th, one FISU staff member commented, "Through this inspection, we hope to strengthen the communication channel between FISU and Gwangju OC to better cooperate and efficiently share information and prepare together for a successful event."

Kim Yoon-suk, Secretary General of the Organizing Committee, stated, "We hope that this inspection will establish a mutual understanding between FISU and Gwangju to go on with preparations for the Universiade, according to plan."Meanwhile, before official inspections begin, a sports seminar will be held at the GUOC headquarters.

John Warnock, FISU CTI-UE Chair, Adam Sotiriadis, FISU Consultant, and Melanie Stallecker, FISU Sport Assistant, will be presenting on organization and structure of sports management, technical support and service, preparation and operation of competition venues and main operation center, and other sports management relatedissues.

With the Universiade just over a year away, this seminar and inspection will provide the opportunity to look over the detailed matters of overall preparation and organization for the Gwangju Summer Universiade.
