The second meeting of the UCI Management Committee this year opened today in Salzburg (AUT).
In his opening comments, UCI President Pat McQuaid informed the members of the Management Committee of developments concerning charges brought the previous day by the US anti-doping agency, USADA. The UCI had immediately expressed its position through a press release.
After recalling the recent celebrations of the 10th anniversary of the World Cycling Centre, Mr McQuaid reviewed the main events of recent months. "The UCI BMX, Track and Para-cycling World Championships were highly satisfactory, in particular in terms of participation," said Mr McQuaid. "We witnessed competitions of a very high standard. This represents an excellent guarantee for the London Olympic Games where cycling will certainly experience one of the highlights of its history."
The following World Championships were awarded by the UCI Management Committee:
2014 MTB Marathon: Pietermaritzburg (RSA)
2014 Cyclo-cross: Hoogerheide (NED)
2015 BMX: Zolder (BEL)
2014-2016 Track Masters: Manchester (GBR)
The UCI Management Committee also approved the 2013 UCI BMX Supercross calendar (available at www.uci.ch from Friday) and the provisional 2013-2014 Cyclo-cross calendar.
