After four intense days, the 2nd FINA Aquatics Convention held in Moscow, closes its doors on a very positive note. The Convention brought together over 500 delegates from 190 countries.

Among the Spanish delegation was Alejandro Blanco, President of the Spanish Olympic Committee and Madrid 2020, who did not want to miss the opportunity presented by the Convention to share knowledge and best practices across the aquatic community.

"I want to take the opportunity to congratulate FINA for the magnificent organization of the convention, especially the technical seminars in which new possibilities have been studied to improve competitive swimming," said Blanco from the capital of the Russian Federation. "FINA is a federation model. It has evolved immensely in recent years and is undoubtedly the best tool for creating a solid foundation for the progress of swimming globally," he added.

In May of 2013, Barcelona will host the 15th FINA World Swimming Championships. In statements made from Moscow, Julio Maglione, President of the International Swimming Federation declared that these Championships will be "the best ever."

"During the FINA Convention we had the opportunity to discuss various technical aspects that will be of great help for the Championships in Barcelona. We are very excited to host this competition in one of the most beautiful cities in Spain," said Blanco. "Once again we will evidence Spain’s excellence in organizing first-class sporting events."
