The Champions League final, the most eagerly awaited football match of the year is just around the corner and will be held at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on June 3.

For the third year in a row, the Union of European Football Association (UEFA) entrusted Filmmaster Events in partnership with Circo de Bakuza for the design and production of the opening ceremony of the Champions League final.

After the Berlin (2015) and Milan (2016) final matches production, the Italian company flies to Cardiff to conceptualize this event. The show will catch the eyes of millions around the World and will accompany the supporters to the kick-off.

Few minutes before the ceremony, perfectly coordinated soldiers will cover the pitch with a 7000 sq. metre blue carpet with the UEFA logo. A light show and special effects in sync will be the setting for the whole ceremony that will be held on the pitch in front of over 70,000 supporters and is expected to be really breathtaking. With a planning time of 7 months, the show will be broadcasted in over 200 countries for an expected audience of over 200 million spectators, which will make the Champions League final be the world’s most watched TV event. The audience will enjoy a 15-minute amazing performance, made possible also through the participation of 150 stagehands.

But that’s not all. After Alicia Keys’ spectacular success in last year’s Champions League final pregame in Milan, the American hip hop/dance group Black Eyed Peas will participate in the opening ceremony and will deliver a live performance of a medley of their greatest hits. A 6-minute lively show accompanied by 150 professional and non-professional dancers who will be doing amazing and colourful mass choreographies for a collective story-telling made of music, sport and show.

"The Champions League final is the football match par excellence, adrenaline goes through the roof and we are leading a production machinery that involves us from design to organization and coordination of the several participating stakeholders" Andrea Varnier, Filmmaster Events’ CEO said. "Moreover, we cannot underestimate the fact that it is a live event and the unexpected is a variable we cannot disregard. From our experience, we learned that we have to be always ready."

Filmmaster Events will also direct the Cup Ceremony, the final ceremony to be held on the pitch, to award the winning club. The same scenery of the opening will be adjusted for the final of the competition and will frame the closing ceremony.

Filmmaster Events boasts an International portfolio, which makes it a top player among the companies specialized in the production of sport events and not only. Fresh from the great success of the opening and closing ceremonies of Rio Olympics and Paralympics, four more Olympic events (Salt Lake City 2002, Turin 2006, London 2012, Sochi 2014) have been designed and produced by the Italian company. In addition to those events, the opening and the closing of UEFA Euro 2012, America’s Cup opening in the same year, 2010 Commonwealth Games ceremonies in New Delhi and the inaugural ceremony of the Juventus Stadium in 2011 are also worthy of mention.
