Volunteers at the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 have been attributed a bright and easily recognizable uniform. Dressed in their new outfits, the volunteers will soon be welcoming guests and participants to the Tournament of Champions in all four Host Cities.
A number of willing volunteers took on the role of models at the presentation on Sunday 21 May in the Confederations Cup Park in Saint Petersburg. The volunteers not only modeled the attractive uniform (see photos) featuring the logo and branding of the FIFA Confederations Cup but also displayed some decent ball skills on the six-a-side pitch, which was briefly converted into a catwalk for the occasion.
One of the distinguished guests at the park, Nigerian Africa Cup of Nations champion and Olympic gold medallist Jay-Jay Okocha, also took part in the unveiling of the uniforms.
"I know the number of volunteer applications for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 and the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ exceeded the previous record," said Okocha, "and nearly 6,000 people from 78 countries will volunteer at the Confederations Cup. I’m very proud of the fact that 21 volunteers from Nigeria, my own country will be there and, of course, I’m sure that all the volunteers will help to host the tournament at the highest level."
The total number of volunteers at the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 will be 5,844: 1,733 will be stationed in Saint Petersburg, 1,590 in Moscow, 1,261 in Sochi and 1,260 in Kazan.
