FIBT takes revolutionary step: Four-man bobsleigh opened for female and mixed-gender teams

At its last Executive Committee Meeting the FIBT (Féderation Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing), world governing body for Bobsleigh and Skeleton, decided that the four-man bobsleigh competition will be opened for mixed gender and female teams.

(RWH/FIBTpress) At its last Executive Committee Meeting the FIBT (Féderation Internationale de Bobsleigh et deTobogganing), world governing body for Bobsleigh and Skeleton, decided that the four-man bobsleigh competitionwill be opened for mixed gender and female teams. "We follow the spirit and movements of our time. There is astrong belief in the FIBT that men and women can compete together in 4-man. Therefore the Executive Committeedecided to support equal opportunities for men and women in that discipline", said FIBT president Ivo Ferriani.

One of the most prominent athletes in women´s bobsleigh, Canadian Kaillie Humphries (two-time Olympic GoldMedallist - 2010 and 2014), has already declared her strong desire to pilot a four-man bobsleigh pushed by threemale team–mates in the upcoming season.
