(ATR) - The first-ever FIBA World Basketball Summit, a gathering of stakeholders from across the globe setting out to build the sport's future, will take place in Xi'an, China, on October 3-4.
The two-day event will bring together a wide range of high-ranking personalities in world basketball - from top level officials and management personnel in federations, clubs and leagues, to business leaders and heads of corporations across areas such as media and technology, brands and corporate social responsibility.
This is the first individual sport summit of its kind and marks a significant milestone in the history of basketball's development, reflecting both the global popularity and maturity of the game.
Sportel Miami Beach
Miami Beach is awaiting those interested in next month's SPORTELSummit 2018, a convention for sports decision-makers and other professionals of sports media.
Sportel chief executive Laurent Puons tells Around the Rings the event "is our new invitation only two-day Summit for senior executives to come together and shape the future of the industry".
The dates are May 15-16 and the summit will include, among others, a discussion on the value of media rights of those properties considered second- and third-tier.
That conference will be moderated by Robin Jellis, editor of Sports Business, and will include Frank Leenders, the Director General of Media and Marketing Services at FIBA, and Ralph Straus, commercial director of FEI.
Sportel Monaco
After Miami, Sportel has also a date later in the year in Monaco. It will be between October 22-24 at the Grimaldi Forum. Based on last year's numbers, more than 3,000 people are expected from 1,100 companies from 80 countries.
"For Monaco, it is shaping up to be another great edition. Many of our 2017 exhibitors and sponsors have already confirmed their participation and we have many inquiries from first time investors who want to be a part of the action," Puons tells ATR. "The industry is evolving faster than ever before because of technology and competition, which is being reflected by the growth of SPORTELMonaco."
Smart Cities and Sport Summit
The fifth edition of the Smart Cities and Sport Summit will take place from October 29-31 in Lausanne, the Olympic Capital.The Summit is a unique conference targeting representatives of cities and regions across the world willing to develop smart strategies that connect sport and cities.This is an exclusive opportunity to learn from industry experts, share best practices and connect with the international sports world.

AIPS will hold its Congress in Brussels (AIPS)The 81st AIPS Congress will be held from May 7-10 in Brussels, Belgium.The Congress will be hosted by AIPS in conjunction with Sportspress Belgium and will cover a wide range of topics relevant to sports journalism and its professionals worldwide.All AIPS Congress participants are asked to register. Registration can be completed without the exact flight details. Registration will close on April 16.

The Sports Business Daily/Journal will have its award ceremony on May 23 in New York .The event will be at the Marriott Marquis hotel at Times Square and will include sports athletes, business legends and a plethora of talent to celebrate the best in the field.More details to be announced in the next few weeks.
"Host City" Conference
This edition of the event will take place in Glasgow, Scotland between November 20-21. The conference will revolve around the theme "The Future of Major Events".
