Rugby Chief on Stars in Olympics
The International Rugby Board's secretary general, Mike Miller, doesn't think the Olympic rugby competition needs the game's biggeststars.
Rugby Sevens, a stripped-down version of the 15-a-side rugby was added to the Olympic program.
"The fans who are new to rugby aren't going to know who Dan Carter oranyone else is anyway" Miller told British media. "Instead, they'llwatch the sport and judge it by itself.
"People in the traditional countries, who love the sport, will watch it anyway. I don't think it's that important.
"Our issue is not whether the big names want to do it, but are they worth a place?"
Very few players play both disciplines, due to the difference in play between the two.
